GP2X firmware 3.0.0 has been released. This firmware mainly consists of design change and minor changes as listed below:

3. 5 games included in the NAND memory for GP2X Value Pack purchased users.

Been using this for quite a while, its a vast improvement apart from a slow boot.

Stick to firmware 2.1.1 this new firmware is extremely slow. It also offers nothing of use over 2.1.1 firmware. I downgraded my value pack with came with 3.0 down to 2.1.1 and it was the best thing i could ever do to my gp2x. Rating 1/10.

i erased the U-BOOT with a bad flash, my GP2X is down how can i setup it with JTAG with the Breakout Box ?

Yeah, I downgraded my value pack GP2X to 2.1.1 too. Seems like FW3 has some SD compatibility issues, in my case at least. I wish G.P.H. would work on more practical improvements, like SDHC support and supporting a wider variety of SD cards, rather than a new look and limiting access to the internal NAND. On the one possible up-side, the new look is more stylish, and easier to read. Although, some of the skins out there look better. Overall, you might want to keep FW2.1.1 for now. Oh, and heads up: if you are downgrading from FW3, you should flash with FW2.0.0 first, and then step up to FW2.1.1.

OK, since you people are trying to discourage us from using this firmware version; this is a REMINDER to ALL WHO SUBMIT FIRMWARE RELEASES: Before you release new firmwares, run them though thorough tests so that users can have a satisfactory experience with their features.

It would also appear this version of 3.0.0 from GPH is slightly bugged in that the icons on the menu will have black lines blinking through them.

Yorper, yes i had that and from what i gather the download is corrupted abit. I remade the broken skin image and its in the downloads. I still have problems with the credits and info screen , there is a missing bg image i need to find.

Is this file safe to use? After unzipping, I ran tar on the "tar.gz" files, and they were both reported as corrupt.

No it's not safe to use. GPH have released a corrupt package for everyone to use. Stick to firmware 2.1.1 :-)

Yep, a corrupt package, and still no fix after 2 months? man. Maybe they're scrapping the idea of FW3 and working on FW4 or something, due to all the disappointed users. The Unofficial Rip of FW3 works though, for those of you that can't resist curiosity :)
