Quest for Glory 3 with sound using dosbox Ok speed Must Try Comes with a VIDEO demo. To really play you must own the game and then you can copy the orginal game in the qfg3 folder. This is an amazing game its so fun and the its like a present day oblivion. You can find this game on some websites to download. So to really play this game you need the orginal game!! You need to copy dosbox to root of sd card!! This game is amazing!!! Soryy about he last time i uploaded it was broken this one works!!

| I'm a bit confused about these releases predatorramboxxx. It appears to me that you're just packaging together game files with dosbox and then claiming credit for it when it's the authors of dosbox who deserve credit. If that's the case these releases are a waste of time. I apologise if you are doing more than that but that's how it appears. |

| Do all of your releases include a dosbox and a shareware version? If yes, why do i have to download dosbox within your archives any time i want to see your release? Why do you include shareware which i already have and force me downloading it again? You said you build only the config files.
Then release the config files only!
Please contact EvilDragon, the webmaster of the archive, and ask him for removing your files and/or replacing them with config-only versions.

Your releases are crapping up the archive. It's really nice that you want to contribute, but right now it's more annoying than actually helping the scene. I am not even sure if the games you are trying to run with dosbox actually run smoothly enough to be playable in dosbox... |

| I also agree. Since you are just editing config file you would be much better starting a thread to help others setup games to work well with dosbox, your efforts would be appreciated then. To clog up the archive with unnecesary files is not good, a config file would only be a few KB instead of several MB. |

| sorry i thought i would make it easier for everyone. its seems like all you guys all u do is complain. this game does not derserve a 3 it runs full speed one sound the config files took hours do for this game.and you give me a 3 becuase it comes with dosbox and demo... so ur all complaining that i give 2.9mb of data wow that is really patcheic.. if you cant download 2.9mb then u cant donwload email.. the only game i released was crap was strife! i want to see you to release something better then mine the poepl who complain. i was looking at you guys comments at some stuff i downloaded and all you do is complain and beat downs everybody work...why do you want not the dosbox and the shareware...becuase some people do not know how to put or do the right files inj right directories trust me about that.. also the all the filees names are case sensitve so if you donwload ur own shareware and put it in it wont work and if you downlaod your own dosbox it wont work so stop complaining... also i thank you for your feedback. |

@predatorramboxxx: i did not vote the game, i vote your release. i don't want dosbox included because i already HAVE it. your service for noobs is nice, but who do pay for that service? look, strife "beta1" you call it crap. What do you do? Update to beta2 and release 6,5mb again? Again 400mb traffic for ED (==paid by us, buying gp2x in his shop) because of some config updates? and hey, i don't want to bash you, i just want you to think about what you are doing. if you want help noobs, teach them how to handle it. If you don't, they will be noobs forever.

Unfortunately these packages are not playable by default and nobody yet has a useable mapper.txt file for any of them, or they have and haven't bothered to tell anyone. I also think these entries are going to confuse new GP2X owners in the future when they trawl the archive looking for games. And lets just say the language in the Warcraft thread is a little colourful and not everybody is going to appreciate it.
I think it would be sensible to remove these packages for the reasons listed above and the avoidable waste of bandwidth. It would be much better if predatorramboxxx simply uploaded his "100% playable" config files to a new thread in miscellaneous. Maybe he could package all of his useable configuration sets together in the same thread and add to them for future releases :) |

| thunor have you tried to qfg 3 yet really with keyboard mode only. it works i will make a video of me playing qfg3 with sound and good controls. So where def keepping qfg3 i want to delete strife becuase that was an experiment gone to hell. warcraft is almost ready with sound. Thanks |

DOSBox quit = Start + Vol-
Quest for Glory 3 key settings :-
The keypad is used for moving (to stop your character press the same direction you are moving).
Keypad 5 is used to switch between different cursor modes.
Escape is used to toggle the in-game menu and to quit dialogs.
There are many other issues involved to get this game working acceptably. You are going to need to download and install the CPU/LCD-Tweaker and modify the qfg3.gpe script to include /mnt/sd/path/to/cpu_speed/cpu_speed --cpuclk 260 (260 is MHz so go as high as you can go) unless you are running it via gmenu2x in which case you can do it from within the gmenu2x GUI. You'll also need to set-up the game prior to copying it to your GP2X (with install.exe) so that the game uses the keyboard only. I also advise you to select the PC speaker and to disable speech. I also advise you to modify the dosbox.conf file in the qfg3 folder to disable all sound and possibly to add a frameskip of 1. Once you've got the game running you can then use the in-game settings to speed up the game.
qfg3 is playable if you do everything above although I haven't progressed very far within the game.
Well hopefully this post makes sense as I can't preview it :)
P.S. DOSBox cycles I never tested. You may be able to increase the speed by changing the cycles.

I have other things to occupy my time now. If this helps you predatorramboxxx or anybody else then great. I personally believe these packages would be better off replaced by zipped folders of DOSBox configuration files.

| well for me thunor the controls are good but i will try yours also in the future i will just release the 3 file not the dosbox stuff and demos etc i just wanted to make it eaiser on people but i realize people dont wnat the demos are dosbox stufff. Also i have the speed treaker already i thought i wrote to people to use that already. for the install file on qfg i set that all up alerady that is why i wanted the to include the demo to show off the music and yes the sppech was alreay disabled hope this makes sense |

If you already have a good mapper.txt file then can you post it please so we can try it.
You can't expect users to have to read all the posts in this thread to understand how to set this up. You're going to have to write a readme.txt file explaining everything the user will need to do for each game. It's very likely they won't know anything about the CPU/LCD/RAM tweaker or how to edit bash scripts.
BTW the DOSBox cycles in dosbox.conf are 1800. This is way too high and slows down the game. If you use 1200 it is much faster and you can reduce the overclock to 230MHz. It tells you inside dosbox.conf the optimum cycles: 600 to 1200.
I should really be doing other things now :p
