We are pleased to announce that CAANOO firmware 1.6.1 version has just been released.
◆ Update information ◆
- Improvement in the internal boot sequence
- Boot Logo change
◆ How to upgrade the firmware to 1.6.1 ver. ◆
* Upgrade the firmware from 1.5.0 version to 1.6.1 version
1. Download the firmware from [customer center-download-firmware]
2. Decompress the downloaded file, copy and paste it into the roots folder of the SD card.
3. Insert the SD card to your device and boot it while pressing the R button
4. Once “Firmware upgrading…” message appears, release the R button.
5. If “Firmware Upgrade Complete” message pops up, upgrade is complete.
* Upgrade the firmware from 1.0.1 version to 1.6.1 version
1. Download the firmware from [customer center-download-firmware]
2. Decompress the downloaded file, copy and paste it into the roots folder of SD card
3. Insert SD card to your device and boot it while pressing the R button.
4. When “Firmware upgrading…” message appears, release the R button.
5. Once “Bootloader was updated” message appears, repeat step #3-#4.
6. If “Firmware Upgrade Complete” message turns up on the screen, upgrade is complete.
**Please note that we are not liable for any problem arising from carelessness or misuse by users during the firmware upgrade |

Can you really advise people to take the risk on a firmware update if all it does is what, improve boot speed? This seems a little irresponsible. |

| Agreed, thats the best you got? Fixing an issue that isnt even an issue? There are dozens of things that need to be added with the firmware, not the least of which is Blight/idle timeout to protect the screen and conserve battery life, but yet it takes 7 months to fix something that did not even need repair?!? Come on now. Properly support your product GPH |

| What would be really nice would be an analog stick calibration utility that enabled a dead zone in the middle of the stick. It sucks when I'm playing a racing game and my vehicle suddenly tries to smash into the left hand wall for no reason. |

| The boot speed was not really an issue. This is a bit of a pointless firmware upgrade. |

| once you get this firmware DONT downgrade to 1.5.0 whatever you do unless you want a bricked Caanoo like me :( |

| I would advise anyone who hasn't upgraded already to avoid this update. It doesn't seem to do anything, except now I'm getting random crashes on seemingly all of emulators where I wasn't before.
kikendo - I feel your pain. On top of the break-prone analog stick (a horrendous idea) the software support for this unit is awful. I gave my Dingoo to my little brother when I bought the Caanoo and now I'm regretting it. The Dingoo A320 has half the horsepower but somehow it ran faster and more stable than my Caanoo on its release day! Also, good luck getting support if you live in the states. I wanted so badly to love this unit but it's looking like I wasted $150. |

| The 1.6.0 logo animation running twice was pissing me off, so i gave this update a try and sort of bricked my newly acquired. Upgrade started, a few seconds later screen went dark with the beehive pattern for hours. Tried rebooting, all i got is the new logo animation running up to 75% then freezing. I still have a few other options to try to save the day, but i would highly recommend not to update. |

| The 1.6.0 animation has a broken pattern and all. Look where the screen doesnt animate, the hexagonal pattern is badly cut!! It's a shitty job. Who is behind these updates?? And why are developers not giving this machine the love it deserves? :( |

| I updated and now some of my favorite homebrew games don't work anymore. Namely Danger Quest: Monster Night. Is there any way to fix this without downgrading again? |
