Beats of Rage is a freeware open source video game and moddable game engine made by Senile Team and inspired by Sega's classic Streets of Rage series. The term "moddable" means that the program allows users to create their own content, and thus their own beat-'em-up game, which is then called a "mod".
The engine is customisable, and allows for new games to be built on it. These are distributed in a custom PAK format. The games developed for the Beats of Rage engine are commonly referred to as "mods", the creators are commonly referred to as "modders", and the engine itself is commonly referred to as "moddable".
This version is to be used with GINGE from NOTAZ.
GINGE is included in the archive, so you just have to unzip the archive on the root of the SD.
In the paths, GINGE is meant to be in the "Apps" rep and OpenBor in the "GAME" rep. But you can modify in the "startup.gpe".
OpenBor is the GP2X version. One pak is included.

Beware : you must put only ONE pak in the pak directory. If you put two or more, the menu crashes. You'll have to play a PAK then change it on your SD if you want to play another one. |

| Works fine for me. Unzip the archive on your SD, launch openbor and it works without launching GINGE. Or if you want, launch GINGE, then Openbor, it works too. |

| Nope, still won't work. Don't understand why, the pak selection screen loads, but as soon as I try to load anything I get taken back to the Caanoo home screen. |

| That's because you put two or more paks in the pak directory. There's a problem with this, you must put only ONE pak. This one will be launched automatically. I think the problem comes from the selection menu. |

| I was just about to mention this, it works without the Paks in, but I didn't know it was to do with having more than one. Cheers for that, I'll give it a go now. |

| What is the point in this? Why don't people spend time actually doing stuff FOR Caanoo or porting stuff over TO Caanoo? There is already a BOR package for GP2X and Ginge for Caanoo, this shouldn't be here. Sorry to sound like a jerk, but there's hardly any activity in the Caanoo scene and this is just way too much.

| Two reasons for this pack. 1) many new users of Caanoo don't know Ginge or how to use it - this pack is for them. 2) maybe is this pack is downloaded many times, this will motivate people to port more homebrews. See with UA4ALL, it's being ported by Reesy cause with GINGE it's too slow. And if you don't like it, just don't take it ;) |

| New users of Caanoo can go to this very site and download both packs separately, so can they do for other GP2X software. It's not like thsi pack has any advantage whatsoever over doing it all on your own. The existence of this entry is really pointless. |

| It would be simpler if a list of GP2X games were playable with Ginge on the Caanoo. There is no need to download stuff specifically for the Caanoo if GP2X games and Ginge are already available.
If you know how to use Ginge then you are well away. |

| Ginge is a little bit of a pain to use sometimes, but things do work in it, Ur-Quan Masters (Starcontrol 2) works fine in it. The only thing that bugs me is the touchscreen doesn't work in Ginge and even though certain games work in ginge (Elite:Frontier 2, Ultima 7 etc) they aren't playable without being able to control the mouse pointer :( |
