Abuse ported to Wiz v1.0 by Pickle from the GP2X v1.0 port by Senor Quack (Dan Silsby)
Abuse is a famous side-scrolling run and gun game originally released for DOS and Linux in 1996. It features beautiful pixel art, lighting effects, many weapons, and is a real challenge even on normal difficulty.
My GP2X/Wiz port features MP3 versions of the MIDI files included with the original game, remastered with a very high quality soundfont collection. This is the only modern version of Abuse that I am aware of that features music.
Installation: All necessary files are included, just unzip anywhere on the SD card and launch: abuse-dpad.gpe (DPAD Users) abuse_ts-lh.gpe (Touchscreen Lefty Users) abuse_ts-rh.gpe (Touchscreen Righty Users) abuse_usb.gpe (USB mouse/keyboard NOT POSSIBLE YET with Wiz) |

Ok L+R to move left and right? Are you kidding me?
Am I able to change that because that is extraordinarily awkward! |
|
|
This is extremely akward. I was unable to change it even by editing the .INI files. It appears to me this user attmpted more of a 'concept' port than a functional one.
The L+R buttons on the Wiz are akward. |

It most definitely was not a concept port. You simply use the touchscreen scripts to launch the game and then you are able to use the DPAD to move while you fire with the stylus.
As mentioned in the comments, the scripts you want to use to launch the game are these:
abuse_ts-lh.gpe (Touchscreen Lefty Users)
abuse_ts-rh.gpe (Touchscreen Righty Users)

Hey senquack - I'm not sure how you get it to function that way. The buttons on my Wiz came through as R and L bumpers for right and left (not the actual D-pad) which defeats the idea of using the touch-screen at the same time.
I'll take a look at the Abuse code later and see if we can rebuild it with customisable control schemes. But maybe the poster of the game changed the key-codes since I last tried it. |

edit- I just saw you posted it - so thanks! I'll check it out later though and see if I can figure out whats going on :) |
