I am having some issues with it: screen flickering and overall non-fluid gameplay.
I've only played it twice for brief periods but I find the unskippable waiting when driving over a 'powerup' frustrating.
Cheers,

I appriciate the input.
Flickering, I'm not sure where that is coming from, but I notice it from time to time on my MK1. I'm using SDL_framerate to manage frames I'd appreciate any insight there.
The game is secretly turn based, which is why the game play is somewhat non-fluid. This is the way it was in the original. I don't expect that to change in any future revisions.
The short pauses when rolling over mines are also reminiscent of the original game. You loose a "turn" each time you pick up an item this allows the Aggressor to catch up to you more quickly. I'll consider adding an "Instant Powerup" option to the game at some point.
Right now the game plays more or less like the original except about twice as fast. Imagine how frustrating it would be at half speed, LOL.
If there is enough interest in the game I might consider beefing it up to make it even more modern. Instant power-ups, Skin support, map editor, and more mine types.
For now, however, the game is complete as far as being a remake of the original with improved graphics and sound. |

My model is a Mark II.
Fair enough regarding the gameplay. I've never played the original.

*shocked by the beauty of this game*
At first I thought this was just a simple game I'd play for a few days then stop playing but This game ROCKS!
It is beatiful, just beautiful... |

Update: v1.1 - Fixed (hopefully) flickering issue and awarding too many points for the "Super Mine" |

Yep, flickering has now gone. Can you tell me what it was you did to fix this please? Were you erroneously blitting a mixture of hardware and software surfaces? |

It was one of two things. I was either putting the SDL_FramerateDelay() before the SDL_Flip() instead of after, or I was using an antiquated SDL library. |
