UPDATED: 19th December 2007
Changes in v2.1 - Now remembers previous position of cursor when moving between score sheet and dice. - Cursor will scroll between options in game when Up or Down is held instead of having to repeatedly press the direction. - Minor changes to the User Guide.
v2.0 As mentioned last week I was planning to update one of my first GP2X games from when the GP2X was first released. It was originally a port of my GP32 game Yahtzee and due to the early development kit for the GP2X the port wasn't that great. So now the F-200 is out, touch screen is perfect for the game and although I do not own a F-200 I wanted an up to date version for myself and others to enjoy.

The game has the following changes:
- Brand new layout and design for the game. Menus and in game look totally different and are much nicer and easier to read. - F-200 Touch Screen and USB Mouse are now fully supported. - Media player from Squares is now used so you can play your favourite MP3, OGG and (I think) MOD format music. - Added SFX for the dice roll. I didnt put much SFX as you should be bangin' out your tunes :) - Added animation for the dice roll. - High Score table added. - PDF user guide. - Minor bug fixes.
Please read the user guide on how to set up the media player, by default it searches the /audio/ subfolder on your SD Card. I hope you enjoy the new version, you can download it from the GP2X Archive here. Donations are appreciated so if you like the game don't forget! |

very bad controls. please GuyFawkes fix these issues it spoils an otherwise good game. A) Main menu instructions to start game have no bearing on real button to start game B) joystick response sucks.. sometimes it skips dice as you move up/down - you could easily trap this by waiting for an auto-repeat timeout before you execute the up/down move. C) no animation on dice.. at least make them show random faces as they 'roll'. And you have the nerve to advise the guy who made the Poker game how to code? Ridiculous. |

Nice game, but I would love to see the custom backgrounds back. I'm just not fond of the blue.. It would look nice if the chart looked like a yahtzee card and the background looked like a wood table. |

the game was a VERY quick port from GP32 to GP2X in under an hour when I entered it for fun in the gp2x coding compo. as a result there are some issues with the controls, sorry. usually my games are a better standard but as this is a quick port for the sake of it and your stupid 'Ridiculous' comments I wont bother fixing it.
i never made any coding suggestions for the Poker game, I made some suggestions on what could be added to improve the game.
shinneri - you can change the background by replacing the background.png file |

Yahtzee is a good game for handhelds; I have a not-so-good implementation on my Zaurus but it does the same thing: relaxing and non-taxing.
This version is well made, aesthetically pleasing and works as expected. There are a few issues with the interface although it's rare to find any game that hasn't :-
- There's no button repeat and although when navigating the dice any die is only up to 2 places away, navigating the list results in everything being accessible within 6 places so the constant joystick up and down movement can become wearisome on the thumb.
- Switching between the dice and the list results in the pointer being reset to the top everytime and this becomes annoying because I find I leave the pointer where I may want it to be next. In fact if I quit a game and then start a new one I find the pointer is where I left it :)

Thanks for the very constructive feedback Thunor. Although I have taken a break from coding I have been getting itchy fingers to code (no rest for the wicked) so if I have a bit of time spare I will update the game to improve the navigation for joystick. A button repeat and remembering the last position should both be possible and I will add them to the list along with any other (if any) suggestions on the forums. Thanks again for the feedback! |

This has been one of my favorite "pick-up 'n play" games since release. (I also play Bunny Traps a lot but that's a darker side my therapist says I don't have to talk about! >:D )
Thanks for everything you put into this Guyfawkes. It is appreciated! |

This new version is very very polished, great to pick up and play when you're just trying to relax. PS - if you have an F100 and want to get rid of the mouse cursor, look in the options menu, it's an option you toggle in there. Thx for the game, guyfawkes |

It's much more accessible since the alterations to the controls. I've been playing it every day and I've managed to achieve a high score of 313 :)
Many thanks. |
