AsTaR:   You could have placed a small blob of glue stick or similar as a spacer on the D-Pad "bald spot" or even place a small blob on the actual board that causes a space/bump raised point where the pad is raised without modding anything I've used glue or glued pieces onto the PCB of the controller for other game systems and it worked. strider_mt2k:   If the original nub was nylon and you've replaced it with a steel pin then you have likely created a serious wear point where the pin sits. AsTar makes a good point about building up the point beneath the direction pad as well. It looks like a fiddly job but the results look great. I hope it works and holds up for you. abstrakt42:   I used this guide as a point of reference today, but with added a personal tweak. Instead of melting a pin into the pad, I glued a small square of plastic packaging (slightly thinner than a credit card) onto the PCB under the pivot point of the pad.
