OH MY GOD. I've been waiting for this sooo long. Thank you sooo much for porting this! This is a memorable day :) |
On an XVID 136kbps (640x368) file the picture is clearer than in the default player, however, it's not as fast as the default player. I suspect this player is not optimised for the wiz hardware yet? |
I'm sorry, I meant 990 kbps, not 136 |
well either way, you should scale your video. No sense making a portable device work harder to crunch a big picture into a smaller screen. I convert my videos to 320x240 with 128 kbps audio and a video bitrate of 192. The resulting file for a full-size movie is less than 250-300 MB, and looks amazing. Running perfectly smooth on mplayer :) |
Yay! This is wonderful, I can now play OGM and MKV files. Just tested it and it works great. =) Is there a way to switch from one audio track to another in MKV files though? Or turn subs on and off? Anyways, thanks muchly for this port. =) |
wow. Just as a test, I played a 3GB 720p movie (FF: Advent Children) in its native resolution with no compression and it played. Not file-size efficient, but it amazed me that it did it without a single hitch in audio/video! |
Did you up your clockspeed? if so, to how much? The MKV's I tried skipped a little if anything happened that had a lot of moving around. |
Un grand MERCI!
Plus de problème de lecture, de pixelisation sur certaines vidéos, que du bonheur :) |
Jest, I wasn't playing an MKV. I was using a DivX movie encoded with Xvid. Not sure about an MKV at that quality. |
Is there any speed difference if you put the player in NAND or SD? Also, does Win2X affect performance? The file I tried wasn't of spectacular bitrate, but it did pretty bad compared to the default player? I'm amazed that a 720p movie played flawlessly. |
I noticed that NAND was really slow compared to my SD card. Actual playback quality depends a lot on the specific encoding of the media file. You can make a larger-resolution movie file have a low bitrate and it will look alright on a small screen. Movies look amazing on the Wiz's OLED screen in the first place :) |
I haven't managed to get .mkv files to work, they dont show up in the playlist. Are you sure they are supported? |
andy9841, open the file "conf/extensions" with UTF-8 supported text editor and add mkv on last line. Then the playlist will show up .mkv files. |
MrTwisT, Currently it's using SDL's software YUV->RGB convert code, so the drawing/scaling speed is slower. Recently I've implemented H/W YUV Layer support but it increases performance little. Maybe it's about decoding(IDCT) and screen rotation. I want to make it faster but it's difficult for me. |
Files that use the AVC(h264) video codec and the AAC audio codec doesn't seem to be able to play...
also, wmv file doesn't seem to be recognized, it doesn't show up in the playlist even though i've added the extension. |
Awesome! What's new in this update? |
Having trouble playing AVI videos with Xvid codec + OGG audio. Works with MP3 audio. Is this normal? |
Darmakwolf, add ac="tremor," to your conf/mplayer and try it again. |
MrTwisT, Updated version has increased performance than previous version. And it has some bug fixes. |
evernal, Wiz is not for AVC. It doesn't have any H/W decoder for AVC.
AAC codec seems to be able(with updated version), but it may not be able to seeking forward/backward. |
great, that did it. Thanks, ikari. Also, is there any way to get a plugin to play Commodore SID music? Just wondering... |
Ikari, just want to tell you how I appreciate all your hard work. Bravo! |
This is great. I just watched a high-resolution "Howl's Moving Castle" today on it at work. Excellent quality =) |
Where do you put your files? When I load MPlayer, the list is blank. |
@AntiAlchemist5 - the same thing happened to me. Its querying the /movie folders on both drives. |
@Darmakwolf- what application are you using to scale your video files? |
pls add flv (flash video) support ;) |
Could you add tv out support for next release? |
Thanks!! Tv out works great. |
Great player but increasing and decreasing cpu clock speed is painfully slow. |
