OMG! Dpkg= package installing, package installing = apt, apt = installing all sorts of debian-arm packages, installing all sorts of debian arm packages = firefox! :D
atomicthumbs:
Not to mention VLC, the full version of mplayer, and much else!
nmn:
*Imagines turning gp2x linux into debian* Extremely useful indeed.
MrPointless:
I take it this is best used with a breakout box...
nmn:
Probably right. Since theres no official packages for the distro on the NAND, anyway... But hey, can anyone imagine how we could use rpm and such to make software installers for things like sdl and commercial games? Sounds so awesome. Enhancing compatibility, using any of the package managers to make sure its ready for stuff, just sounds cool. (Yeah, i know. We install to SD anyways. But when we download a windows app, we usually install to our harddrive, right?) and it includes less. Less is probably useful for those license agreements that people always forget to include (And people like me who are too lazy and ACT like they forgot to include ). But there are some things to this that could be adverse. Lets remember that Debian ARM packages could be compiled with FP's, making it emulate them through the kernel... Way slow. dos2unix and unix2dos are probably useless, the gp2x seems to fully support text files coming from Windows. i forgot what top did. And dpkg, dpkg_deb, and rpm obviously are our package managers. RPM is dangerous... and fun... So, is there a chroot in the gp2x? we could DEFINITALLY elimate almost all major security issues using a chroot and --root=/somewhere to an rpm command.
Eclipse:
 extremely nice

nmn: top gives a nice dynamic list of which processes are running, their PID, CPU usage etc. I included it simply because i and a couple of other people wanted a top binary and it only makes the binary slightly larger. The GP2X doesn't like the run scripts without UNIX line endings, hence why I included dos2unix/unix2dos. There is a chroot binary in the GPE package if you want one.

Enhancing compatibility, utilizing any of the package managers to ensure that it is prepared for things, sounds nice. fnaf security breach
