Beat2X Advanced Step Gen 0.0.1.0b |
This is a more advanced and friendly Beat2x Step File Generator which DOES NOT require the .NET framework, and will accept virtually any of the following formats: .WAV .MP3 .MIDI
The README contained within the zip contains ALL the information you could possible want to know about this program. It is a BETA so look out for some amazing improvements in the coming weeks.
UPDATE: Updated the display which looks absolutely incredible! Live beat2x step display emulation is included so you can see your steps similar to how they will look when played on Beat2x.
Fixed a few bugs!
UPDATE 2: I've fixed the "Save Steps" error so you can actually save them now! Sorry about this problem, I should've noticed it sooner!
Also I've included the first limited version of the Step Previwer module which can play Beat2x step files (EXCEPT ONES WHICH USE DEFs) So the idea is to use it with Step files generated with my step gen. |

Oh a few things I forgot to mention in the README..
Once you press "Start Recording" you will notice in the center of the panels a timer which will count down from 5. Once it says GO you should have gotten yourself ready to start recording steps.
The recording automatically stops (and your steps won't register once it stops) when the track reaches the end.
I haven't yet put a track time display in but it will certainly be in the next release as it is most useful to see how far through you are, and how long is left to go.
Anyway... enjoy :) |

Okay first error noticed almost immediatley after posting my last comment. I made a small mistake when I made the last-minute changes for release... I have updated the file on here but it hasn't registered yet so in the meantime you can get it from ----- https://www.rustybin.com/BASFG.zip ----- Sorry for the problem, I am tired at the moment! |

Thanks for releasing this a couple of days after releasing mine. Lol. So much for my hard work. |
By the way, don't feel too bad, but I'm only 16. Haha. Good job on this, but mine is early the same in function and I'm probably decades younger. And c++ is a horribly inefficient programming platform to make such a program, simply because c# is thousands of times easier in every conceivable way. Therefore I don't know why you are touting the lack of the .NET framework as a benefit. Lol.
Maybe I can learn a thing or two from this experience, maybe not. |
Meant to add .... bot other than the above, good program (= |

andrewtheart,
I did not mean to step on your hard work, and I am willing to share my source and experience with you if you desire.
I didn't use C++ or C# to write it, I used Pascal (Borland Delphi) which is by far the better language.
Feel free to add me in MSN or Skype and I'll send you the source. By the way.... I'm 20 years old but I have over a decade of programming expereience. |
Also the problem with the .NET Framework is it is SLOW.... and I don't understand why people build programs using .NET which seriously don't require it. |
Hey Kraven, I'd be glad to join up and somehow work together on this. Makes much more sense (more productive).
Drop me an e-mail at andrewtheartist@hotmail.com, and try to include your MSN messenger. |

"And c++ is a horribly inefficient programming platform to make such a program, simply because c# is thousands of times easier in every conceivable way. "
ROTFL. c# better than c++? you are mad. also pascal and delphi are better than c# and .net framework.
Kraven owns... btw releasing something called "advaced" is bad if you aren't the "original" version coder. 'cause your program can also be worst. and that "which DOES NOT require the .NET framework" in the description is a dirty shot.
Peace and Love guys ;) |

Eclipse - Good points with the "Advanced" etc.... I pointed out the "NOT require the .NET framework" not as a dirty shot at Andrew (who's program WAS the inspiration for the project I'm doing - and hopefully will be working With Andrew on...) it was merely to point out to people who - like me - detest the .NET framework.
The reason I included the word "advanced" is because there is going to be a really tricky (from a programming standpoint) fine-tuning facility to allow the user to calibrate each individule step to his/her liking :)
That and you'll be able to play Beat2X packs on the PC as well (Which is nice).
Can't wait until next week when I Finish building my GP2X dance mat :) |
Oh by the way Kraven - trying to play OGG audio with winmm.dll causes problems. Lol. |
About to upload the new one! This one simulates Beat2x on the PC as you create your step file! It's AMAZING! |
okay whilst you wait for this page to update (seems to take a while) here's a link to download it:

Got to say, good job (= No reason to d/l mine anymore. |
Hi! Thanks for your great progran! It´s only problem is that it doesn´t save my steps! Can you fix that? Nothing happens when I press the save button.. |
Tuomoz.... I noticed this myself the other day.... I'm just sorting out a couple of other new features then I'll be updating, though I may release a limited version with the Save Steps feature fixed.
In fact I'll do it now! |
Right whilst you wait for this page to update you can download the fixed and improved version from
