The Ur-Quan Masters 0.5.0 |
A port of the Ur-Quan Master 0.5.0. Everything you need to play is included.
I made some small changes to the keys.cfg file, added a README.txt and bundled in the 3do-music content file. Also edited the uqm.gpe to kick back to the menu on exit.
This version does NOT use rtems like the Loki666 0.5.0 port. |

Great port,thank you :)
Could you port cvs versions ?
https://uqm.stack.nl/files/snapshots/ |
This is sweet -- unlike the first port, this one works without any tweaking or messing around. Can't wait to play more. Does anyone know if the game is finishable using this port? |
I'm not sure if it is finishable. I haven't gotten quite that far yet (on this version). =D
I will grab the latest CVS and give that a go. I wanted to start with a stable version first.
I also uploaded the 0.5.0 source with the build.vars file and such that will build in the Windows devkitGP2X that's in the archive here in case anyone else wants to make some cool additions or what-not. |
Thanks for your work Foehammer,it is appreciated :) |
Hi Foehammer! Can you post the controls, really quickly? They seem obvious, but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
Just wondering about the finishability -- it will probably be a loooong time before I get even close to that. |

This is from the keys.cfg in the NEW version that has been uploaded and should be available for download shortly. The default configuration allows you to turn and thrust with the joystick in both ship and lander modes. You can also thrust with the 'R' button if you prefer. Button A = Primary Weapon and Menu Select Button Y = Secondary Weapon Button B = Lander / Ship Escape Start = Brings up menu or takes you back a step in the menu. If the new version isn't up yet, the only way to thrust is with the 'R' key. Hopefully the new upload will be available soon. In the meantime, I have put a copy of the new keys.cfg file at https://foehammer.game-host.org/keys.cfg. |

I got the latest CVS snapshot to compile and everything seems to work fine *except* for the lander mode which is a bit laggy at 240mhz. On planets with a fair amount of techtonic activity and high temperature, it was a bit too laggy for me to enjoy it. If there's something major in 0.5.3 that isn't in 0.5.0, let me know and I'll work on it some more. Otherwise, best I can tell, 0.5.0 has everything I'm looking for. =) |
Nice! Very nice! Load times are great, playable @ 200mhz (but i reccomend 240mhz) sound and music, a great port, and thank you for it! |
Foehammer, could you mail me the build ?
If you can't, I will try to build it myself when i'll have some free space on my hdd.
Latest CVS is 0.5.4 not 0.5.3 .
Get it from here : https://uqm.stack.nl/files/snapshots/
I think it is useful because, several annoying bugs are fixed.
email me at mr.mad.overclocker at gmail dot com
Thank you. |

For me the game wasn't returning to the GP2X menu so I modified the bash script :-
#!/bin/sh
./uqm
cd /usr/gp2x
sync
./gp2xmenu
I've had my GP2X for a day now and so far I've found this to be one of the best downloads along with PRBoom. There is some lag though on planets with lightning; Mercury I think was the first place I experienced this.
I own the original DOS versions of Star Control 1 and 2. I played them on a 25MHz 386DX.
Cheers,
Thunor

Very awesome. One of the main things that prompted me to get a GP2X.
However I added in the voice content package file, which plays fine, but the subtitles don't progress, which means you also can't skip back/froward a sentence. The voices are just too cool to play without. |

Hell yeahs...this was the first game i ever stuck on my 2X! thanks foe! |

Excellant game, i cant say anything more than that other than v0.6.2 is out which fixes a fair few bugs. Would love to see the update, but even if we dont this game is the best! |
Senor Quack has done a port of the 0.6.3 code and it runs better than mine. I'd certainly download it instead if you've stumbled onto this version from another site. Might be a good idea to go ahead and remove this port so there is only one UQM in the list. |
