YES!!! Bochs on the GP2X!! I was waiting for somethin like this :P Great job!!
If you can, try to get the mouse emulated, even if it is with the digital pad. Perhaps we can code a Windows-based on-screen keyboard or something to help with keyboard support in Windows 3.1 and 95?
Another interesting idea i had is if we had an externally-powered usb keyboard or mouse in the usb port of the gp2x, or perhaps the EXT port? (Not really an idea related to this specifically, but interesting anyway, ne?) |

That is hilarious. is it only utilizing the first chip? 400mhz should give enough performance to run 2000 :-D |
Remember, dual 200mhz ain't the same as a single 400mhz. From what I understand (and correct me if I'm wrong... i have been known to get things like this wrong) but a processing task can only use 1 of the 2 processors at a time, or something.
Besides that, if it takes 6 minutes to boot win95 i don't even want to try booting win2000 yet, lol |
Well, it would still be cool to run castle of the winds and epic pinball on it, I am going to refrain from downloading until there is a virtual keyboard and mouse. |
I followed the FreeDOS instructions... and it's not working. Can anyone help me? |
noahj, this is an emulator, that not run windows directly on the gp2x, it emulate an old pc that runs win95, isn't the same thing... noob. |
SkullFire, did you ever get it working? I've also followed the instructions and put the freedos image into the right place and edited the config file but no go. I've even tried changing the available mem from 32mb to 16 and 20mb. Also tried editing out the BXSHARE path variables in the config file and adding it to the dos image path but still no go.
By "no go", I mean it just kicks me back to the gp2x menu just like the .gpe scripts says to do after running the bochs binary.

Actually... has anyone else gotten this version to work?
I'm beginning to think this is a conspiracy. Other than what Madelman posted, no one else seems to have volunteered that they've actually gotten bochs 0.2 working. At best, other people quote what was written here!
Someone please prove me wrong! :-)

I managed to get it loaded and im able to type commands but the text is all messed up, the resolution makes it almost impossible for me to read the text, can anyone help me? |
kazperk, it does work, the first time i tryed it it kicked me back but that is because i used the bochsrc.txt that came with freedos, you have to use the one that came with the boch program. and for proof here is a picture of it running skyroads (although it is too slow to be playable) https://serv2.imagehigh.com/imgss/4935017_DSCF0037.JPG |

do u need to have a Win95 installer disc to run windows95? |
dump it to .iso or write it all to a folder |
im glad i still have it, now ive got to bug my dad until he lets me buy it.
Oh and mattz, this is just a guess but u should try lowering th resolution.
And x_25, r u runing MS-DOS, win95, etc.? |
I would rather run a nice clean linux distro :P |
i upgraded the win 98, and it worked on my GP2x XD of course, all set up using the PC instructions :3 i wish there was a linux GUI (like gnome or KDE) for the GP2x's GPLinux... |
Will this work with f200? Even tho it says OS f100, I'm just making sure:D |
I have an F200 and haven't gotten this to work yet either. I got the fdosmini.img and went ahead and edited the bochsrc.txt to show
ata0-master: type=disk, mode=flat, translation=auto, path="fdosmini.img", cylinders=20, heads=16, spt=63, biosdetect=auto, model="Generic 1234"
then I used win2lin to convert text to linux (i am a lowly winblowz user primarily)
I threw all that in the same folder with a couple of images (dos6.22, win3.1, and 95) and I get kicked out to main menu everytime. |

could someone port this (or an improved version) to WIZ or Caanoo ? |
It works with ginge on the caanoo. Have not tried any games yet, but I will try to run windows 95 on it later. |
