Qtopia Image Creator Utility

This readme has been modified by AndrewTheArt (who is NOT the author of this software, by the way). If you have any problems with the Linux instructions, please tell me. (andrewtheartist@hotmail.com)

The real author of this *seems* to be here: http://nickspoon.phpnet.us

Instructions: Windows

1) Copy qtopia.img to the directory containing the Image Creator Utility. It must be called qtopia.img.
2) Run uncram.bat.
3) Open up your .ipk file in an archive manager such as 7-Zip.
4) Descend directories until you get to one containing data.tar.gz and control.tar.gz.
5) Descend into data.tar.gz until you reach one containing "apps", "bin" and "pics" (note: there may be just "apps" and "bin").
6) Copy the files in these directories to the relative directories in your myqt folder.
7) Repeat steps 3-6 for each ipk you want to install.
8) Run recram.bat.
9) If you want to add more ipks in future, you do not need to run uncram.bat again. Just add them to your myqt folder using steps 3-6 above.

Instructions: Linux

The only unique instructions for Linux are modifications to steps 2 and 8.
Follow the Windows instructions, substituting in the following for steps 2 and 8.

You will need native versions of cramfsck and mkcramfs for this to work.

2) Open a shell, cd to the directory of the unzipped archive, and run the following command.

cramfsck -x myqt qtopia.img

8) Open a shell, cd to the directory of the unzipped archive, and run the following command.

mkcramfs -q myqt qtopia.img

NOTES:

- A good site for .pik files is http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showapps.php?cat=10

- Some ipks do not follow the structure shown here. They can still be installed, but doing so is beyond the scope of this readme.

- Some ipks will not work on the GP2X due to hardware limitations and the fact that the GP2X is not a Zaurus in any way except that it is Linux-based and runs Qtopia.

- Some ipks will need extra libraries. In order to install the libraries, follow steps 3-6 above but copy the library from the ipk to the libs directory under myqt.
