You can use this program to play your collection of CDG, MIDI and MPEG karaoke songs. No songs are provided, you must obtain these from elsewhere.
CDG is the format of professional karaoke CDs. These CDs can be ripped to your hard disk, and turned into a .mp3 file together with a .cdg file. This player gives you the ability to play those mp3+cdg files. |

The whole idea of this program might render CD-G disks obsolete! I think a GP2X will serve as a portable karaoke machine as a result. |

Wanting to have a portable karaoke machine is exactly why I started this port! A friend of mine challenged me to bring a solar-powered karaoke machine on our camping trip. I brought my GP2X loaded with PyKaraoke, and a solar-powered battery charger, and won the bet. And then we all enjoyed a round of karaoke at the campfire. |

Interesting.
Now why is this 21.87 MB large? |
|
|
It's big because it includes all of Python, and all of the instrument files from timidity (for MIDI playback). Future releases will be more streamlined. |

Just a thought, is there any change of adding mic support into this? there are usb-mics out there, which I think this would be ideal for. Ihaev one myself, and am itching to use it with thr GP2X |
