OpenHandhelds gp2x File Archive - File Info

(V1.5) This is a bash script that uses transcode in order to RESIZE your videos.

This script only resizes your videos and NOT reencodes them, this means that
you can SAVE a lot of TIME and about 30-50% of disk space!! ^___^

Given an Mplayer compatible video file, this script outputs a standard video
in an AVI container using Xvid4 and MP3 as default codecs (fully readable from
your GP2X).

This script will automatically adjust the video size in order to minimize it
to 320x240 (keeping the aspect ratio), and eventually adds some pixels of
black border so the W or H can be a multiple of 8 (this speeds up the resizing
process a lot).
In addition it will add an additional black border in order to obtain a full
320x240 screen. This feature was added to overcome to a GP2X Mplayer/MP2X bug
which wrongly cuts *some* videos, making the subtitles unreadable.

USAGE: vid2gp videofile [quality]
Where quality can be: 0(fastest) to 5(insane). Default is 0.

within a shell, type the command name followed by the video filename, for example: vid2gp mymovie.avi

ver 1.3: Please change the TMP variable content from "/tmp/ram" to "/tmp". -- I'll change this in the next release.

I was going to download this, but I was confused on if it ONLY resized and left the encoding to a gp2x compatible format for another script or program. Make it clearer? (=

that script changes only the video resolution, not the used codec. So if your video is a divx or a xvid you can use it to make it 320x240, if not you must convert to divx or xvid before using another software and then resize. But the web is full of free converters that resize and\or reencode so if your videos are not a format supported by gp2x is faster to reencode and resize using a single software. Btw this is a linux bash script, if you're a windows user search around for a converter like veemode or total video converter

The transcode option "-y xvid4,lame" encodes the input files using these codecs,so you can safely view your video on your gp2x :)
