looks great but you tutorial hurts my head lol |
it seems it can't show the route on the map. So i think its easier to take a screenshot of gmaps and view it with the pictureviewer. |
Very usefull application and very good realisation. Tutorials looks hard to follow but it's not so complicated.
Congratulations. |
Tutorial it's tricky, but I have no idea how to make it easier. If you need help, ask me on e-mail (mosra@centrum.cz) / jabber (mosra@jabbim.cz). I can't post on gp32x.com yet. |
DarkMole: No, it can't. Route planning is impossible (for me), but manual route highlighting wouldn't be so hard to develop.
tedr56: Thanks. |

great work ! it will be a great utility and create map is not so hard when you understand.
I think i will produce a pack France for French user (I expect it will not be too heavy)
I think your utility could be improve with GPS module (by adding a point of reference on the map and with the coord calculated by the GPS module calculate the difference with the reference and place a point which is a approximate position in the map fonction of the zoom -that need another point perhaps followed by map2x when moving).
I have already see on the net someone who have manage to add a GPS module to GP2X for calculating coord.
finally it could be possible if you can add the support of the "reference point" on the map.
Tell us if you want to do this project.
I can't help you now but if you want idea to solve problem I will be there.
other improvement possible : make it mappy and viamichelin compatible. |

mikapoli: I was thinking about adding a SDIO GPS module, but I don't know GP2X has enough power to work with that. ### I didn't even tried to "hack" Google map coordinates to convert to GPS, so when it will be done, adding a GPS receiver will be much easier - for example, Map2X will receive GPS coords from somewhere (something in /dev for better compatiblity, I don't know yet) and will move according to them. ### "Reference point" - I want some specifications / web URL to implement this... ### What about a French translation of the app? :-) ### Mappy - it's Flash, so it will be very difficult to make a support (and creating maps), ViaMichelin has simliar syntax to Satellite Google Maps, looks hard to "hack". |

about SDIO i don't know. i have only seen with a USB module.but USB is not very transportable... and SDIO is not cheap so i'm asking if it's interesting...###about french translation the work is in progress (test phase soon)###I talk about reference point (with coord) to put in map because i don't really know how your utility work... i think it only show images i don't really know if my idea can work |

SDIO GPS is good for common users, just plug and play, not very big, only SD card with antenna, other things means diassembling the GP2X and do something dangerous inside or carry some wired stuff plugged into EXT port. Some links: https://www.pocketgpsworld.com/globalsat-sdio-gps-sd501.php | https://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Pharos%20Pocket%20GPS%20Navigator%20SDIO%20GPS:1991395577 But all those things seems to be rather old and I don't know they are still produced. ### The utility has abilities to move with given speed and direction or to given coordinates (for now only internal coordinates to move onto saved position - see the bottom of map.conf file). ### BTW, thanks in advance for the translation :-) |
French translation added.---I expect SDIO gps card doesn't cost a lot...--- Just another idea of improvement the ability to add Point (like point of interest as Home, Work etc) |
I'm planning to support Points Of Interest (and ability to directly use databases from various navigation systems), but it's dependent on GPS coordinates support. In addition, saving positions requires a keyboard to give them a name, I'm working on that, too. |

something on google maps have change. Version is nq.83 and the address has change : zoom= is now z=. So your script don't work.please update it.Thanks |

It's more complicated and I can't fix it now, because i have work-in-prgress version, which don't work at this time. More info here: https://mosra.bloguje.cz/719889-map2x-non-functional-downloading-of-google-maps.php |
