Sqdef is a tower defense game for the GP2X. The goal is to prevent enemies from getting from one side of the map to the other by placing towers along their way. There are over a dozen different buildings with upgrades, tech research, and a whole lot of maps to try your defense skills on! Sqdef also has a built-in editor that allows you to make your own maps and share them with others. Visit the Sqdef site http://artraid.com/sqdef/ for more things, including downloads of new map packs.
What's new in 1.4? (27 August 2008) -> new graphics -> bridges on maps -> improved balance -> each building has a specific creature on which it does +50% damage -> upgradeable Scythe, Trapper, and Colony -> automatic turret upgrade after every 16 kills -> two new research items, Ice Pick and Poof -> option to sell all buildings of the same type at once -> 60-waves are default, no more selection -> Map Editor can load maps -> a more informative upgrade window -> smaller, faster save files -> new map pack "New World"

| Well, the physical health of your GP2X's is my number one concern ;) |
| I have been looking at all the games of GBAX competition for some 5-15 minutes each and this one managed to get me playing for 3 hours till it was too late and I had to go to sleep. LOL!!! I am going try the latest version now. |

| Really great addictive game! Nice concept, ingame and menu design. You've made a Gp2X hit Alex! |
| This game is great! I would add some background music, but everything else is OK. Thanks! |
| Amazingly high quality game. Everything is perfect. |
| I'm glad you guys like the game. Your nice comments mean a lot to me, so thank you very much! :-) |
| great! much like VectorTD (flash game)
possible improvements:
-graphics
-sounds (sound for shooting, music would be awesome :D)
BTW, is there any kind of map editor for this? i wanna try :D |
The next version will have an on-GP2X map editor and cooler graphics :-) I don't plan to include background music, and sounds for shooting would get annoying as there are a lot of bullets flying around (consider space shooter games, none of them have shooting sounds for enemy ships, because there are simply too many and it would get annoying). |

| The best just got better with v1.2.. good work! |
| This is a well polished game. 10/10
Maybe F200 touch support can be added in the next version :). |
| yes, it will be a killer app with touchscreen! |
| Great Update, I want touchscreen support :D |
| I haven't gotten to play it yet (my SD card broke, aww :( ) but it sounds like a good update... I agree with abeisgreat, and I would imagine touchscreen support would be easy enough to implement, but its not a big deal. |

| Hey everyone, I plan to add touchscreen controls in version 1.3. |

| Quite possibly the most professional looking, and well made game for the GP2X, and reason enough to buy one in itself.
And it keeps getting better! Keep up the good work! |
| Quite literally the "killer app" of the GP2x... Keep up the great work! I can only ever dream of being as good of a coder as you are... |
| Nice new version, the bridges are a good new feature (along with the others of course). An idea, but how much work would it be to support multiple skins? While the new level skin looks nice, I would love the option to use the old one... or, considering that it might seem weird with the bridges, one like it. |
| Also (and I did extensive testing to make sure this was true) I don't seem to have sound... even with the volume all the way up, is anyone else having this problem? I'm using an F200 with 4.0.0 firmware and the latest GMenu2x... although I tried it with the menu off as well. |
| Can you make a port of this for computer? That would be amazing if you could. |
Dusk: I'll consider an option for the older skins in a future version. I like the current one the most though, the others looked rougher and unfinished.
I did not change anything major to the sound handling since the previous version, so I can't imagine where such a problem could stem from. I'll look into it though, e-mail me (address is in Sqdef/readme.txt) and I'll send you a test version to see if that fixes anything :-)
Spadoof: With so many tower defense games out on the PC already, I don't really see the point. I think I'll keep this one on handhelds, at least for the time being. |
